Civil Engineering, Senior Specialization: Transportation Interests: Exploring, food, quality time with friends Hobbies: Hiking, trying new foods, road trips, hanging out with friends, playing board games Fun Fact: I’m still called the baby on my dad’s side of the family because I'm the youngest. About me: I grew up 15 minutes east of Los Angeles in a city called El Monte. Throughout my entire childhood, I was always interested in transportation, especially in areas of sustainability and active transportation. I found civil engineering in my search for an applicable field and I loved it. I enjoy being outside whether it's out in nature or in the city. Although it may take me a minute to warm up, I love meeting new people and making new friends. I’m excited to meet the new class of initiates this quarter! |

Civil Engineering, Junior Specialization: Water Resources Interests: Music, anime/manga, nature (especially trees), memes, nerdy and STEM related things Hobbies: Practicing piano, binging TV shows, small time gamer, sleep, going on adventures Fun fact: I have never managed to pull an all-nighter. About me: I was born and raised in Orange County, CA. I attended La Quinta High School and now commute to UCI from Garden Grove, or at least I was commuting before the pandemic. I love math, physics, and nature, and that being so, I decided to specialize in water resources because it nicely combines all of these things and fits it under the umbrella of civil engineering. Through engineering, whether it be big or small, I hope to make a positive impact on the world around me. Outside of engineering and studying, I consider myself to be an average, chill person. My default mode is being asleep and when I am awake, I like to just send out good vibes. I very much enjoy meeting and talking to people, so always feel free to reach out! |

Civil Engineering, Senior Specialization: Structures Interests: Baking, Hip-Hop/Contemporary Dance, Photography Hobbies: Procreate, Tennis, Painting, watching horror movies Fun Fact: College is the reason why I started drinking coffee :p About me: I am from a city called Wilmington, located between San Pedro and Long Beach. Initially, I wanted to become an architect. Since UCI does not offer this major, I went in as a ‘Chemical Engineering’ major because I found chemistry back in high school “fun”. It wasn’t until the end of my first quarter that I learned about civil engineering. I immediately fell in love with this major, specifically structures! I plan to attend graduate school and go into the design and analysis aspect of structures! I enjoy watching sunsets (mainly because I’m never up early enough to watch sunrises lol), blasting music in the car, and taking polaroids. Some other random facts about me is that I am the oldest of three siblings, I have no sisters, my favorite fruit are mangos, and I’ve had a pet fish named Lucky, who survived for eight years! |

Civil Engineering, Senior Specialization: Structures Interests: Music, nature, sustainability, my dogs (any really), Legos Hobbies: Reading, listening/ playing music, gardening, hiking, spending time with friends and family, and watching movies/shows Fun fact: I used to scuba dive and have dived a couple famous spots including the Great Barrier Reef About me: I was born and raised in Orange, CA and now commute to UCI. I discovered Legos when I was little and since then I was fascinated with building things. This led me to choosing civil engineering as a major when applying. I am passionate about sustainability and believe sustainable design is a large stepping stone to a cleaner and more environmentally friendly future. I’m always excited to talk about any topic and can’t wait to meet everyone! |

Civil Engineering, Senior Specialization: Structural Interests: Netflix, Music (Kpop) Hobbies: Watching Netflix, Amazon shopping, LOL, playing the guitar Fun Fact: I was born on an island called Jeju, which is located right below Korea. About me: I was born in Korea and immigrated to the United States at the end of 5th grade. I attend Crescenta Valley High School which is in Glendale, but our family moved to Norcal after my high school graduation. Even though I currently live in the Bay Area, I am still a Socal person. I was always interested in building structures and wanted to become an architect. However, I realized it was too late to learn art, and since I like Math and Physics I decided to major in Civil Engineering. When I first joined the Civil Engineering Program, I was confused on what I wanted to do since there are so many different aspects of Civil engineering. However, through the Timber Strong Design Build Project, I decided to specialize in structural and hopefully work as a structural designer at an Architectural firm. Outside of school, you can either see me watching Netflix or Youtube, or playing League of Legend with my friends. Feel free to reach out to me if you have anything to talk about! I'm excited to meet everyone. |

Civil Engineering, Junior Specialization: Structures Interests: Music, eating poke, physics, true crime documentaries, nature Hobbies: Playing basketball, going to the beach, running, working out at the gym, painting, exploring new places Fun Fact: I can walk on my hands About me: I grew up in Fremont, California. Half of my family come from China, while the other half are from Denmark. As a kid, playing Minecraft made me find an appreciation for architecture, as I was able to build creative structures out of simple blocks. Later on in high school I took physics and found the subject to be more enjoyable and fulfilling than I once thought. This is when I realized civil engineering is an amazing choice. In the future, I hope to take part in buildings that continue to positively innovate surrounding communities. Aside from engineering, I grew up also having a passion for basketball and played competitively throughout high school. I still like to play for fun at UCI and work out at the ARC. If you see me on campus I’m always excited to meet/hang out and make new friends, so feel free to say hi! |

Civil Engineering, Senior Specialization: Environmental Hydrology & Water Resources Interests: Music, art, food, dogs & cats Hobbies: Drawing/painting, singing, hanging out with friends, exploring new places, drinking coffee, playing volleyball Fun Fact: When I was a kid, I fell on a playground and split open the skin right next to my eye. I got stitches and had to wear an eyepatch to school :( About me: I was born in Peru but my family moved to the United States when I was only a year old. I grew up in Riverside, CA and that’s where I’ve spent most of my life. Although I constantly joke about how lame Riverside is, it still holds a special place in my heart because of all the good memories I've made there. When I was younger, I always wanted to know how everything worked and how it was built. This is what first drew me into engineering. Besides my interest in math and physics, I chose civil engineering because I liked that I could be a part of the design and construction of things that would impact people's lives. Although I consider myself more of an introvert, I love meeting and getting to know new people. I look forward to meeting you all! |
